Elizabeth May: Cross-Country Tour by Train

The Green Party Leader, Elizabeth May, is in the midst of her tour of the country, attending rallies all all hours of the day (and night), in towns big and small.  Her whistle-stop train ride in a car attached to a regular VIA train is traveling from Vancouver to Truro, NS visiting 8 provinces along the way.

The whistle-stop tour by train is a friendlier, cleaner and more economical way to campaign across the country than chartered airplanes typically used by party leaders.

Elizabeth May has said that it also lets her visits small communities that haven’t been visited by a national party leader in decades (since the Diefenbaker tours of the early 60s).

It also highlights a plank in the Green election platform: improving train service across Canada.  Countries around the world run high-speed trains made in Canada on their modern rail systems, and the Green Party is comitted to updating our rail system so that those Canadian-made modern, high-speed trains become a viable and reliable option for travel.
